4 The Priority of Seeking Knowledge

4 The Priority of Seeking Knowledge
Seeking knowledge and religious knowledge is something that must be achieved by humans. If we have useful knowledge as intended in the hadith, that is, someone who teaches knowledge to others.

Then, they will practice it or teach it again to other people, so that they will receive a reward in the form of rewards like the person who practiced it even though the person who taught the knowledge has died.

For someone who is studying, especially at the elementary, middle and high school levels, they will usually be known as students. However, some students may start to feel lazy about studying. But don’t worry, because this can be eliminated by knowing several student life mottos.

What are the student life mottos? You can find it in this article, yes.

The Priority of Seeking Knowledge

Studying will certainly give you priority. Anything? Here’s the explanation:

§  Knowledge is the Heritage of the Prophets

The virtue of seeking knowledge is that it is a legacy handed down by the Prophets and is very good to obtain.

Rasulullah SAW said:

“And indeed the Prophets never bequeathed gold or silver coins, but they have passed on knowledge (Shar’i knowledge). Whoever takes this inheritance then indeed he has taken a large share,” (HR Ahmad) .

This certainly shows that the priority for someone who seeks knowledge is higher than money and gold which are material in nature. Because, when someone has knowledge and teaches it, then this will become good deeds that will continue to flow even until the person dies.

§  Seeking Knowledge Is the Path to Heaven

Heaven is the dream of every Muslim. In fact, this is a promise from Allah SWT for people who have a lot of righteous deeds carried out by Muslims.

Therefore, when Allah SWT makes knowledge the main path to heaven, this shows the great importance of seeking knowledge. This has a sharia basis, because it is based on a hadith when the Prophet Muhammad said:

“… Whoever follows a path in order to seek knowledge, Allah will make it easy for him the path to heaven…” (HR Ahmad).

§  Allah SWT Will Elevate Degrees

Regarding this priority of seeking knowledge, in the Koran Allah SWT says:

O you who have believed, when it is said to you, “Space” in the assembly, then make room. God will make space for you. And when it is said, “Space.” And they disobey, and God will raise those who have believed among you and those who have been given knowledge by degrees, and God is Aware of what you do.

Yes, the man is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who loves him This wallażīna ụtul-‘ilma darajāt, wallāhu bimā ta’malụna khabīr.

It means: “O you who believe, when it is said to you: Be spacious in the assembly’, then be spacious and Allah will surely give you space.

And when it is said: ‘Stand up’, then stand up, surely God will elevate those who believe among you and those who are given knowledge to several degrees.

And Allah knows best what you do,” (QS Al-Mujadalah: 11).

§  Seeking Knowledge Is Goodness Desired by Allah SWT

The priority of seeking knowledge is something that God wants. Related to this in a hadith, the Prophet SAW said:

“Whoever Allah wills good for him, Allah will make him understand his religion,” (HR Bukhari and Muslim).

Shaikh Abdul ‘Aziz bin Baz interpreted:

“The understanding (implied meaning) of this hadith is that a person who does not understand his religion means that person is one of those people whom Allah does not wish for goodness and we ask Allah for protection from something like that.”

The most well-known legacy of medieval Islamic science today is the Arabic numeral system. The number system, which is also used in Western countries, beats the Greek number system. The book Muslim Scientists shows why the Islamic empire succeeded in advancing science so that it produced works.”
